Amazon Listing Suppression Risk Audit Checklist (Free)
Use this checklist to audit any Amazon listing for suppression risk: work through each item, mark it pass or fail, and treat any failure as something to fix before Amazon's systems find it. It covers the same signals Amazon's automated checks use — availability, images, title, content, pricing, brand, category attributes, and marketplace rules — so a listing that passes every item is genuinely low-risk. It's free to run manually, and free to automate. Start with your top-revenue ASINs and work down.
How to use this checklist
For each ASIN, go item by item. A single failed item can be enough to suppress a listing, so don't stop at the first pass — check everything and note the severity. When you're done, you'll have a prioritized list of fixes. If you'd rather not do it by hand, you can run the same checks automatically and free and get a scored result in under a minute.
1. Listing availability and Buy Box
- The listing is live and findable in search for its main keywords.
- The product holds the Buy Box (or you understand why it doesn't).
- The listing isn't already suppressed or flagged in the Seller Central listing quality dashboard.
A listing that's already lost search visibility or the Buy Box is your highest priority.
2. Main image
- Pure white background (RGB 255, 255, 255).
- Only the product for sale is shown — no props or extras that aren't included.
- No text, logos, watermarks, badges, or borders.
- Real photograph, not an illustration or render.
- Product fills roughly 85% of the frame; high resolution for zoom.
3. Title
- Within the character limit for this specific category.
- Title Case — no ALL CAPS words.
- No promotional language ("sale," "free shipping," "best seller").
- No prohibited symbols, emojis, or decorative characters.
- No subjective or health claims.
- Follows the category's expected structure (brand + product + key attributes).
4. Bullet points and description
- All bullet slots used with factual, benefit-led content.
- No restricted or prohibited claims (medical, "FDA approved," "cure," guarantees).
- A complete, non-empty description (or A+ content) is present.
- Language matches the marketplace.
5. Price
- Price is within a reasonable range (extreme high or low prices can trigger issues).
- No pricing errors that could cause a listing to be deactivated.
6. Brand and category
- Brand is set correctly and consistently.
- The product is in the correct category and node.
- All category-required attributes are filled (material, size, safety info, etc.).
7. Restricted words
- Title, bullets, and description are free of restricted or prohibited terms for the category.
8. Ratings and reviews health
- No sudden ratings drop or review issues that could signal a listing problem.
9. Marketplace-specific compliance
- Each marketplace (US, UK, DE, FR, CA, IN) is checked on its own terms.
- EU listings meet GPSR requirements: responsible person, safety information, labelling.
- Region-specific labelling and documentation are in place.
Turning the checklist into a score
A checklist tells you what's wrong; a score tells you what to do first. Weight each failed item by severity — a non-compliant main image or a missing responsible person outranks a slightly long title — and combine them into a single 0–100 risk number per listing. That lets you rank a whole catalog and spend your time where the suppression risk (and revenue at stake) is highest.
This is what ListingGuardian automates: it runs all of the checks above against your live listing, returns a suppression-risk score, and hands you a ranked, plain-English fix list. The Free plan includes 10 audits a month, so you can score your most important ASINs at no cost.
From one-time audit to ongoing protection
Running this checklist once is valuable, but Amazon's rules change and its sweeper bots re-check old listings on their own schedule. The sellers who almost never get suppressed re-check continuously:
- Audit at creation and after edits to stop violations before they go live.
- Re-audit the catalog monthly to catch drift from rule changes.
- Monitor top ASINs daily so you're alerted the moment a listing's risk rises.
The bottom line
Work through availability, image, title, content, price, brand, category, restricted words, ratings, and marketplace rules on every ASIN, and fix failures worst-first. Do it by hand with this checklist, or run it automatically for free — then put your best listings on a monitored schedule so the next rule change doesn't catch you out.
